NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) is a new way of providing support for people living with disability. It’s a whole-of-life approach tailored to each person’s needs and goals.

You can check your eligibility for the NDIS through the Access Checklist on the government’s NDIS website.

Transitioning to the NDIS

With our extensive experience in disability services, Just Better Care can assist you to get the best out of the NDIS.  We can support you through the transition with our four step process. Our skilled staff are always on hand to guide you through the process. You can contact us with questions anytime.

Step 1 – Pre-planning

Careful planning is needed to prepare for the NDIS. It is important to think about what your life is like now, what your support needs are and what your current and future goals might be. You should also gather information from your existing support providers, allied health professionals, specialist doctor or GP to understand your support needs.

Step 2 – Meeting with the NDIA

You will be contacted by the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) to set up a planning meeting. To create your first plan you will meet with an NDIS representative or Local Area Coordinator to have a conversation about your current situation and supports. You can have representatives there to assist you in developing your plan.

Step 3 – Starting your plan

Once your plan is approved, it is time to action it. There are supports available to help you implement and monitor your plan, this is called coordination. Coordinators will link you with service providers, address any barriers to accessing services and build your capacity to gain more independence.

Step 4 – Turning your plan into action

Just Better Care has a range of options to support you in all aspects of your life. We take the time to get to know you, identifying the best ways to support you in achieving your goals. Whether it’s your career aspirations, exploring a passion, or travelling the world, together we can make it possible.
