This week we recognise the ninth anniversary of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and the positive impact it has had on our customers living with disability.

The Scheme supports more than 500,000 participants including Anthony. After being placed into aged care in his forties and living with residents twice his age, the reformed alcoholic is now receiving 24/7 care in a Supported Independent Living home thanks to NDIS funding.

Anthony, 51, is far more confident about the future and has his sights set on returning to driving, shopping without the necessity of alcohol, and reading a truckload of books.

"This is how life's meant to be, you know enjoyable. Not trying to hide behind a bottle all the time," Anthony said.
