What Is Home Care?
Home care is professional, personalised support delivered in the comfort of your own home. At Just Better Care Mornington, we help older Australians and people living with disability remain independent, safe, and connected—where they feel most comfortable. Whether you need a little help or a comprehensive support plan, we’re here to provide flexible, quality care tailored to your needs.
Why Choose Home Care?
- Familiar surroundings: Receive support in the place you love most—your own home.
- Greater independence: Services are customised so you can keep doing what matters to you.
- Holistic wellbeing: Our care considers your physical, emotional, and social needs.
Types of Services Available
Home care can include a wide range of services depending on your goals and health needs:
- Personal care: Help with showering, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
- Domestic assistance: Light cleaning, laundry, shopping, and meal preparation.
- Allied health and nursing: In-home physiotherapy, podiatry, medication management, wound care, and health assessments.
- Home maintenance: Minor repairs, safety checks, and garden upkeep.
- Assistive technology: Mobility aids, communication tools, and home modifications.
- Social support: Transport to appointments, companionship, and community participation.
Government-Funded Home Care Options
Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP)
CHSP offers entry-level care for people who need a small amount of help at home. It focuses on maintaining independence with services like domestic assistance, meals, and transport.
Home Care Packages (HCP)
HCPs provide coordinated care for people with more complex needs. There are four levels of funding available, and services are chosen in partnership with your provider using a consumer-directed care approach.
Support at Home (Coming 1 July 2025)
The Australian Government is introducing the Support at Home Program to replace HCP and CHSP. It will offer greater flexibility, improved service access, and better outcomes for people needing aged care at home.
Costs and Contributions
Most home care is subsidised by the Australian Government. Depending on your income and the selection of support services, you may be asked to pay a basic daily fee and/or an income-tested fee. Our team can help explain your options and ensure you get the most from your funding.
