At 32, Barb became legally blind as a result of macular degeneration.

Rather than focusing on the barriers of her limited vision, Barb became a well-known speaker at schools and service clubs across the Gympie region. In doing so, she has inspired and educated generations.

Testament to her unquestionable resilience, Barb bounced back from brain surgery in 2005 and continues to live independently at her home.

Barb has partnered with Just Better Care, who take care of her support services and equipment that gets funded through her home care package.

This ensures Barb lives in a comfortable and safe environment that she dearly loves.

"I get kicks out of day-to-day living for what I do in my role," Barb's Home Care Package Advisor Tash said.

"I take my hat off to Just Better Care," Barb said.
