Father’s Day is a day for sharing love and laughter with the important people in your life. For some people, Father’s Day may be a day to celebrate a parent or another relative, a grandparent, a friend, or another significant person in their life.

There are many ways to create a memorable day with the people you love. This Father’s Day, show your dad or special person a great day out by doing some of the activities they enjoy.

Sightseeing on wheels
Australia has one of the most beautiful, scenic and diverse landscapes in the world. From mountains and national parks, to wetlands and city pathways, there are many options for a weekend adventure. Pack up a picnic and some warm clothes, strap on a helmet, and set out for a day of sightseeing. Always remember to take a charged phone, snacks and water, and let others know where you are headed.

Fire up the barbecue
There’s nothing better than the smell of food grilling on the barbecue. Make the neighbours jealous by firing up the backyard barbecue or, if the weather permits, head to a local park and utilise the barbecue facilities. Make some fresh salads, brew some homemade lemonade, pick up fresh bread and throw a cricket set or board game in the car.

Movie day
Winter is finally winding up, but there is still a chill in the air. What better time to select some feel-good films, cook up a batch of fresh buttery popcorn and settle in for an afternoon of entertainment. If you want to go out for the day, head to your local cinema or outdoor theatre.

Cast a line
Pack up the rods, pick up some bait and head to the local river, lake or beach. Be sure to pack some chairs, snacks and appropriate clothing. Be sure to take a fish ruler and stick to the regulations.

Simple relaxation
Sometimes just knowing you don’t have to take out the rubbish or wash the dishes is all you need to have a great day. Take the pressure off your dad or special person by pitching in with the washing and cleaning. A home cooked meal at the end of a relaxing day would also be a welcomed treat.

Try something new
Has your dad or special person mentioned an activity or event they have always wanted to participate in? Father’s Day is the ideal opportunity to treat them to a day out experiencing new things. Perhaps a cafe has opened nearby, a sporting event is on, or they would like to take a road trip to visit family or friends. Make the day about them and the activities they enjoy most.

Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers and special people in our community.
