Introducing the Support at Home Program

From 1 July 2025, Just Better Care will proudly deliver aged care services under the Australian Government’s new Support at Home program.
Introducing the Support at Home Program

Overview

This transformative reform will provide older Australians with timely, personalised, and flexible care — helping you live safely and independently in your own home and community for longer. Whether you’re currently receiving aged care or exploring support options for the first time, our local teams are ready to guide you through this next chapter.

What is Support at Home?

Support at Home is the government’s new aged care program, replacing Home Care Packages and other existing services. It aims to:

  • Simplify the system
  • Offer more tailored support
  • Make it easier to change services or providers
  • Increase transparency and quality across the aged care sector

The program introduces new service categories, a quarterly budget, and clearer provider pricing — giving older Australians greater choice and control over the services they receive.

Key Features of the Program

✔ Flexible Funding

Support is delivered through a quarterly budget based on your needs. If you don’t spend all of your budget, you can roll over up to 10% or $1,000 into the next quarter.

✔ Personalised Services

You’ll be able to choose from four core support categories:

  • Common Support Services – such as domestic assistance, social support, and help with shopping or meals
  • Restorative Support – therapies or short-term care to help you regain or maintain independence
  • Clinical and Therapeutic Care – including nursing and allied health services
  • Assistive Technology & Home Modifications – mobility aids and home adjustments

✔ Co-Contribution Model

You may be asked to contribute to the cost of your care based on your income, but many Australians will pay the same or less than under previous arrangements.

Who is Eligible?

If you’re 65 years or older (50+ for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples) and need support to live independently at home, you may be eligible. You’ll need to be assessed by the My Aged Care team to determine your care needs and budget level.
