Jump the aged care queue with a private package

Last year, federal changes to aged care funding shifted the way Home Care Packages (HCP) are allocated.

Now funding is given directly to the consumer rather than accessed through the aged care provider.

Consumer Directed Care provides greater choice and control to the person who needs in-home care services, as they now have the power to allocate funding towards the specific services they require and the providers they prefer.

While this is a positive change, there is high demand for HCPs and the waiting list continues to grow. As of mid last year, the Department of Health and Human Services said some people could expect to wait more than 12 months before receiving a HCP.

Not only does this place a strain on the health and wellbeing of the individual awaiting funding, it can be a difficult time for family or primary carers who may be trying to provide additional support in the meantime.

Thankfully, there are other ways to get the care you need. A private package is an affordable way to get support when you need it, both at home and out in the community.

Just Better Care can tailor a package from our wide range of services to meet a family’s specific needs and budget.

There are many flexible options, from personal care and in-home nursing to meal preparation, companionship and transport. We can help take the pressure off and provide that extra support quickly and sensitively.
