National in-home disability support provider, Just Better Care, today expressed support for the federal government announcement of full funding for the NDIS beyond 2019.
“This announcement brings much needed certainty to the sector,” said Alison Chandler, COO Just Better Care.
Ms Chandler said concerns over gaps in funding and well-documented teething problems have marred the NDIS roll-out and detracted from the positive impact the scheme has on people living with a disability, and broader Australian society.
“Just Better Care is already witnessing the positive social impact the NDIS has on people’s lives.”
“Our customers can now access a broader range of services, achieving their goals, leading independent lives and fully participating in their local community.
“The announcement gives us the confidence to invest in supporting the Australian roll-out across our expanding network.”
While welcoming this announcement, Ms Chandler emphasised the need for further clarity on the alignment of funding with the actual cost of delivering services.
“Just Better Care has supported the NDIS since its conception, participating in the initial trials in 2013.
“Ultimately the NDIS exists to support informal carers, create jobs, and build community cohesion, and we look forward to our role in achieving these outcomes.”
