The Brisbane North Dementia Network is a community initiative that brings together local organisations, health providers and community representatives to support people living with dementia, their Carers and families. Aligned with Dementia Australia and supported by Brisbane City Council, the network runs monthly Dementia Circle gatherings: welcoming, inclusive spaces where people living with brain change can connect, share experiences and access practical information.

How Is Just Better Care Brisbane North Involved in the Brisbane North Dementia Network?

Just Better Care Brisbane North is one of the network's founding facilitators. Since mid-2025, our Director, Susanne Jones, has worked alongside dementia doula Leah Keating, representatives from Brisbane City Council, the local seniors network, and the team at Brisbane City Library, Everton Park, to help the network grow. The facilitation group meets monthly to plan the ongoing Dementia Circle gatherings. Just Better Care Brisbane North has focused on strengthening these community partnerships and raising awareness of the network across Brisbane's northern suburbs.

What Happened at the Brisbane North Dementia Network's First Community Showcase?

In June, the Brisbane North Dementia Network hosted its first community showcase, bringing together local services, community members and families for a day of connection and information. Guests explored a Tovertafel, an interactive projection table whose Dutch name translates to "Magic Table," heard a personal account from an author who lives with dementia, and enjoyed live music that kept the atmosphere warm and welcoming throughout the day. Just Better Care Brisbane North showcased Support at Home services alongside fellow provider St John Community Care, and the day also included interactive activities, goodie bags and a lucky door prize for attendees.
