I am responsible for overseeing the clinical well-being of all Clients in our Business. I provide clinical advice as needed. I train CSPs in Clinical-related tasks and assess their competence. I also complete clinical assessments of our Support at Home clients.
What drew you to a career in care, and what do you enjoy most about working with clients? I always wanted to be a Nurse and am largely motivated by the satisfaction of making a positive difference to people’s lives. Particularly making sure that they lead the best and healthiest life possible. I am passionate about empowering people through Clinical education and health advice. I also thrive on having face-to-face contact with My Clients and forming an interpersonal connection with them.
I have been with Just Better Care for just over 6 years now. My current role is Senior Care Partner for our Support at Home Participants. This means I support a group of elderly people, helping them access the services they need to remain living at home safely. I liaise with both the participant and/or family members on a regular basis. I also help answer questions and support the rest of our Support at Home team when needed.
What drew you to a career in care, and what do you enjoy most about working with clients? Working in Care is something I enjoy doing. Working with the elderly and helping them in their latter years, I feel, is a privilege. To be trusted and let into their lives, daily routines, and personal circumstances is something special. I most enjoy the contact with our Participants, going out to meet with them or talking to them regularly.
My role is to liaise with participants and/or their families to ensure their Support at Home package provides the appropriate supports to enable them to stay at home as safely as possible. Creating care plans that are participant-focused and enable support workers to meet their needs appropriately.
What drew you to a career in care, and what do you enjoy most about working with clients? Create more personable relationships with people whilst helping them. An example of where I made a difference is getting Home modifications funding approved for a chair lift, so the participant could access their house freely without significant pain.
I have been with JBC for 5+ years, hiring and training staff, and ensuring we meet our quality requirements. Finding great Support Workers who meet clients' criteria and then watching them develop supportive relationships is one of my favourite parts of the job.
What drew you to a career in care, and what do you enjoy most about working with clients? I was drawn to the industry because it was a way to use my skills to make a real difference to people's quality of life.
